I am only making this post for the few owners who have the combination of a 2012 MBA 13" LG screen & LG IPS234 monitor. I have used both an hdmi and dvi cable from the MBA to the LG and the DVI outperforms the HDMI cable. The hdmi whites washout badly but the dvi connection is perfect. Using the Spyder4Pro calibration, the LG monitor has a much better calibrated screen. For those owners who have an uncalibrated LG IPS234 screen on OSX 10.8.3, I'll make my .icc profile available via message request.

I have that display, even with PC connection, the hdmi looks bad compared to DVI...

Can you host that .icc file?

I'll message you the link to mediafire when I get home and post it to that site.

Hi, I'd really like to have your icc profile too! Can you send the link to me also? Thanks in advance!

HDMI (unless there's a Game/Text or PC Mode) overscans the picture loads and makes it look bad compared to DVI (for PCs and Game consoles). DVI, which takes the input signal and does no post-processing, is therefore much better for PCs. For things like Blu-Ray players it's good to overscan, but PCs and game consoles do the processing themselves so the monitor ruins the picture on HDMI.

I've got an LG 22 inch monitor myself and I use a HDMI to DVI for my PC.
