Hey guys

I just bought a MBA i5, 128gb, 4gb ram 2012, 2 days ago, and I'm noticing as i type this on my couch the lower right and lower left sides of the laptop creak!

Especially the bottom right palm rest. I've read that 2011's have had this problem, but nothing so far about 2012's.....

Help I'm a newb, recently converted.

I never had the problem with my 2011 and don't have the problem in my 2012. I'd say bring it in for exchange. They will almost certainly not even question it.

Call your local Apple store and ask.

Is it the 13.3" model? My wife's creaks as well, but only after a year of use. I think the 13.3" Airs may be prone to it.

Yes it is a 13.3 inch model.

I just got this bad boy on Thursday!

My 2011 13" creaked a bit sometimes while pressing on the lower-left, but not disturbingly often. I'd recommend to use the laptop for a few days to see if the joints settle in.

Take it to the Apple store. They will reseat the bottom panel.
I havent noticed mine creak since I had them reset mine.

^ It's not the hinges that creak, but rather the bottom right and left corners, where the bottom panel screws into the frame.

Thanks for the help guys I'm at apple now. Hopefully they won't think I'm nit picking, but 1500 for my first apple product I expect it not to have little issues like this

had the creaking issue, bought the screw driver, took off the bottom panel and then put it back on, creaking gone.

Yea, since this is my first Mac, and i got this badboy last thursday, i did not think it would warrant me to buy a 3rd party screwdriver set just to fix something i just purchased.

In the future though, this would definitely be my only option.

Thanks for all the input guys!
