This Machine was running without an issue, since Mavericks upgrade I've noticed lag all over the place, Safari, Chrome, Keyboard lag, every few sec beach balls show up and disappear , first day on Mav it was running very snappy actually, updated Pages and a few other things, that's when things went downhill , should I attempt a clean install or are there other things I should do first

128 SSD about 60 is free, 8GB RAM

I've had no issues. I'd do a clean install.

I upgraded and the biggest lag for mine is while in the launchpad scrolling. Otherwise minimum issues with ball appearing and disappearing after

cmd+option+esc
put in sleep mode
restarted
shutdown
and booted

4GB RAM
128 SSD
I5
MID12 AIR

Thanks you both
I went ahead and did a clean install and no lag at all while typing or scrolling, but the beach ball does appear but not as often as before so thats good

Thanks again

Ya, for some reason I get the beach ball that does appear (more often now but not really). Though it doesn't stop workflow as if I move the cursor it stops.

Check activity monitor look at CPU and memory use

I would stay way from chrome and pepper flash.

Clean install sound good too.

My 2012 11" is beach ballin, Im trying a clean reinstall right now. My iMac does it too..... so Im thinking its a bug of some sort with the memory compression.

That's strange. Maybe clean install but I have the exact same model and Mavericks actually cleared up any issues I had with the previous OS. I didn't do a clean install either. 77 GB free. I'm also in Florida lol.
