it happened 2 times now, when i shut down, i just get a white/grayish screen with cursor, and nothing happens after that, what could be causing this, how to fix? got the latest updates btw.

My sister had a similar problem but it was a bit more severe. Her drive was dying, you may want to check with someone to see if it's failing. Leave it off for an hour then reboot, see if anything changes.

If not, check activity monitor for anything abnormal.

If there isn't anything, make sure you close all your applications when shutting down and see if that helps.

i always close all apps before shutting down, and this is my first mac, i don't really know what are the normal processes in activity monitor.
i ll try that reboot thing tomorrow.

Basically, if there is anything consuming a large amount of ram or cpu, check if it's necessary, if not, quit it. This should reduce shut down time and prevent this screen.

You say you close your apps, do you mean quit your apps or 'close' them by clicking the 'x'?
