2012 rMBP + 4k Display

Does anyone have experience with 4k displays?

I have the very first gen retina macbook pro (15", early 2012).
I'm thinking about buying a 4k display.

This is my model:

*This model supports a simultaneous maximum resolution up to 2560x1600 on two external displays via Thunderbolt. Alternately, it can support a single display up to 2560x1600 via Thunderbolt and a single display up to 1920x1200 via HDMI. Although it can theoretically power all three external displays, as confirmed by a helpful reader, it runs too hot with three displays connected.

Looks like the DP in my model is too old (Thunderbolt 1). Did anyone have any luck with running a 4k display @ 60fps on this rmbp model?

Won't work... Need late 2013 15" for 4k 60hz.

TB1 itself does not have sufficient bandwidth to drive 4K @ 60Hz.
