Hi all!

My 2013 13” MacBook Pro has started to run ultra slow even though no applications are running. I’ve tried restarting the unit and still the same issue. I looked up at the activity monitor and it show kernel task using 70% CPU. The laptop isn’t running hot at all with no fans running. I’m only the latest OS. Has anyone had this before and how can you fix it??

Thanks in advance

Have you tried to reset the SMC?

kernel_task is responsible for thermal management. Something is preventing your fan from responding to the temperature increase, therefore the CPU is throttled to prevent overheat.

Hey thanks for the response, I've reset the sMC and no change. I've tried to reinstall OS Mojave about 10 times now and it always fails in the last 2 minutes. Thoughts anyone??

Checked for dust issues in the laptop and it fine. Slightly annoying since its just come out of no where and I don't want to buy a new Mac as this one is perfect for it needs
