My 2013 MacBook Pro is refusing to power on. I have never used Apple Genius Bar before, so hoping people can give me some insight.

Power supply cord doesnt show an orange charge light but even leaving it connected overnight the laptop still doesn’t power on. Does it mean my charger has gone bad? I did replace it once in 2015.

I made an appointment at Genius Bar to take it in. Something this old do you think they will be able to fix in store? If they have to ship it out for repair is there anything I need to look out for to make sure my laptop doesn’t get lost?

Your MacBook Pro is no longer supported by Apple. My understanding is that Apple will not repair this and that your only option is a third party repair service. I suspect you can purchase a newer, used MacBook Pro for less money than a repair shop could repair your current machine for.

I do have a 3 year old MacBook Pro. I just have a lot of old files on that 2013 MacBook Pro that I would like to retrieve at the very least

As above, Apple won’t support a 2013 Mac at this point, so you’re almost certainly on your own with this. You might be able to find a 3rd party Apple repair facility that would be willing to take a look at it, but an actual Apple Store won’t.

Never opened up a computer. All this sounds intense.

I did notice that the charge light isn’t coming on the power cord. If my MacBook was dead would the charge light still come on the cord when connected to laptop, or does it only come on if the MacBook is pulling power?

My MacBook Pro is A1425
