Sunday I updated to the new iOS. Monday I go to use it for school work and it just shuts down on its own. It does not matter if it is plugged in or not.

I took it to Apple yesterday. The genius told me it was a software issue and to give him an hour or so. Came back and he then said it’s a logic board. $600 to fix or $500 to send it out.

Could you guys help me out here. I want to fix this. I need it for school but I’m not looking to spend $500 on a 5 year old MacBook (I bought in 2014).

Disconnect the battery, connect the charger, the MacBook should power up on its own. If it does, use it like this for a while; however, it will be slow without the battery connected. If it's fine, buy a new battery.
