Hi everyone.
I’ve been faithfully using my 2013 MBA since well, 2013. It’s been a champ and absolutely love it.

however, the screen has started to look a bit washed out to my eyes. Not sure if it’s “aging” or I’ve gotten used to screen on newer systems.

regardless, I’ve been thinking of moving to a 2020 MBA (the last Intel one) and wondering if anyone has done the same and could specifically comment on the screen and if it is essentially similar looking (aside from the retina). Ie do the colors still look similar and maybe a bit washed out or do you fee there was a noticeable improvement?

thank you!!

I have the model you're thinking of moving to & I think the screen is great.

The colours don't look washed out and it has an IPS display (the 2013 MBA's had old TN panels) which means that it looks great from every angle. It also has True Tone.

The only thing it lacks in comparison to the MacBook Pros and the newer M1 MBA is the P3 colour gamut. This makes colours (especially red and green) pop out more. But other than that, it'll be a major upgrade and that's mainly because of the IPS technology vs. the awful TN panels those old MBA's had.

Here's some further reading on IPS vs. TN if you're interested: tn panel vs ips
