I'm in a dilemma here, I can't quite decide which of these to get.

I found BNIB MBA 13" i5 Haswell, 256gb SSD, 8gb RAM & Intel HD 5000 for 1100.00

I would have to find a similar MBP for close to that price. I'll mostly be using the laptop for college along with traveling and web browsing. A few lightroom edits as well.

Which one do you guys think I should get and why?

For what its worth, I got the MBP retina, same specs but with the Iris graphics, for $1370. If you can go the extra couple hundred for retina and that's worth it to you, then I recommend it. If not, the Air will be plenty and at a great price!

agh choices choices..I've owned MBP before but not the rmbps, and never owned an air.

How about:

Macbook Pro 13"
Hardware
2.4GHz Dual-core Intel Core i5, Turbo Boost up to 2.9GHz
8GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
256GB PCIe-based Flash Storage
Backlit Keyboard (English) & User's Guide
Accessory Kit

1527.00 out the door from the apple store

vs

Macbook Air 13-in 2013
1.7 GHz Haswell Chip
256 SSD
8GB RAM

1350.00 BNIB private seller

Where did you get your rMBP?

Listen to your gut feeling. If you feel that you would regret not owning the retina MacBook Pro in the near future, do not get the air just to save some money. Get the machine that you truly want.

Both are pretty sweet. I've used my boss' MacBook Air a lot and it is a great machine but it can't beat the retina MacBook Pro's display and extra ports!

The screen quality and low resolution of the MBA makes it tough to recommend. A pity really as I really love the portability having owned an ultimate spec 2011 MBA. The fact that the display panel is still the same is outrageous.

Depending on what the OP does he will have to turn off the retina anyway because of the lag and stuttering.
At least thats what i have to do.

If you have a oportunity to compare the two then try them.
Dont be immediatly fooled by the retinas sharp display.
Test it out and you will see its shortcomings.

Id strongly recommend the air.

I have spent more time testing them than you can imagine. Even compared to a 2009 MBP, the MBA's display is simply disappointing.

Let's not get into a discussion regarding the animation issues, which have nothing to do with the display quality point. I own a 2012 rMBP, so I am well aware of any "shortcomings".

went with the retina, going to pick it up in an hour.
