A month or so back, I was able to connect my 2013 rMBP 13 to the CalDigit TS3+ using Apple's TB2-to-TB3 adapter. I tried yesterday and no luck. Tried both ports. Tried jiggling the cable. Tried rebooting the Mac. To make sure I wasn't imagining the earlier success, I tried a different 2013 rMBP 13 and it worked fine.

Any ideas what may be going wrong? I don't see any change to the System Report - Thunderbolt section when I hook it up (just shows ports 1 and 2 with 'No device connected'.

I've used my former work-owned 15" 2013 MBP with a TS3+ before, so it should work. What operating system do you have on the computer? The adapter will only work in the direction you need if the computer is on macOS Sierra (10.12) or later.

It's running Mojave (10.14.6 + latest updates). As I said, I'm pretty confident about the dock + adapter as my other rMBP 13 (also a 2013) works just fine. Unfortunately that one only has 8GB of memory, so I can't just swap them and ignore the problem.

Do you have any other Thunderbolt devices to use for a test? I'd also go through the SMC and NVRAM resets on the computer. Otherwise, Thunderbolt might just be broken.

Tried a different Thunderbolt device. No luck. Tried mini-displayport output. Worked fine. Rebooted. Thunderbolt now works fine. Weird.
