I read that the 2013 rMBP has received also some component upgrades besides the 0.1 ghz bump.

What is exactly fixed? Is the PRAM bug gone for example with the 2013 rMBP? And the Image retention issue is also fixed with the 2013 rMBP's?

Apple is always rough on Rev. A products, so you can expect that the Rev. B retina MacBook Pro will be a good to great improvement. The update just recently is not Rev. B though more like A1.

The new rMBP are identified as "early 2013" vs the prior "mid 2012" when you look at the OS X system information

Yes I know this...Thats what I was referring to when I asked the other poster about the Ones Available now being (2013 Units)

The mid 2012 was for the regular 13" macbook pro, the rMBP for the 13" were never mid 2012. They were late 2012.

Really small and quick upgrade/update.

Point of correction, this is incorrect - I have both machines.

The rMBP that was out prior to the "early 2013" ones released in the last 2 weeks were named "mid 2012" when you looked up the system information in OS X. Google around.

Correct, I had both as well, but returned the 2.5 i5 256GB when the 13's were released to get a 2.6 i5 256GB and my money back.

Didn't blur out the 2012 serial because its no longer mine, since I returned it.

Well I am not sure what ones you have had, but I have owned two 13" rMBP from 2012 and both have said late 2012, my regular macbook pro said mid 2012. So I was actually correct, no need to google.

Here's a screenshot.

Strange, are these both 13 or 15 inch? Mine are both 15 and got the "older" one a week before the "early 2013," and I just checked, my older one reads mid 2012. It was a CTO from Apple so not stale inventory.

In any event, OP, you can see the differences are little. If you resell at each new model, then get the 2013 so you can advertise it as such when you resell.

13's. Because the 15's were mid 2012, only the 13's were late 2012.

I was just about to come back and ask if you had the 15", the 15" retina came out earlier than the 13". That would explain why yours says mid 2012.

LMAO...Just got an email from J&R Music that they have the 2013 models available...hahaha!

I think I'll keep my late 2012 and $300+ in my pocket :D

So aside from the 100GHz processor speed bump, have any other differences from the late 2012 vs early 2013 MacBook Pro 13" Retina been identified?

I've been trying to find out more about this too.

Considering the 9to5Mac leak talked about component changes but never mentioned a difference in screen between the 2012 and 2013 models I'm not holding my breath that image retention will have been fixed. Both Samsung and LG screens are still in use in the 2013 15" models, but we'll have to wait to see if anyone reports IR on one of these new machines before we can make a judgement.

Keeping my eyes peeled on the thread over on the Apple Support Communities

Honestly I think its the same machine with all the same parts for the exception of the bump in processor speed. Theres still the risk of getting one with a crappy yellow screen, a squeaky backplate, etc etc! This is just Apples way of slapping the numbers 2013 on a machine and selling it for $1,699 and then selling left over units from 2012 for a lower price. Works for me, got my 2012 for a very fair price.

the only thing i've been thinking about is if the thermal "issue"/paste has been changed for the better - and no one has done any good review about the differences!

Of course the lowered price is a little slap but had the computer for 6 months (1st mac!) and the spec. bump isn't worth mentioning

I was thinking about buying a 13" rmbp in May. At that point, will they release a mid 2013 model? Should I wait, or will they not update it again for 2013?
