Hi all,

why is it that the 2014 rMBP 15" is more expensive than the one that was released, almost a year later?

They both have the 16GB RAM, and the 1TB Flash storage upgrades.

Would it be because AMD is cheaper than NVIDIA?

Maybe in 2014 more of that equipment was only available as BTO, or the BTO price for the optional equipment was higher. I have seen similar discrepancies in the 13" rMBPs, usually on BTO units. I assume they were just applying a discount % based to the original price of the unit.

Yes, it does seem that Apple doesn't really take into account how old the model is while applying their discount unless the model is significantly older.

I think Apple reduces the price by a set percentage (something like 12 or 13%) and the newer model was cheaper from the get go, so the discounted price will reflect that.

Cheers for the replies, I brought this up also on the 'buying thread'...it does seem a little odd?
