Okay, silly question here. I know both of them run on a resolution scale of 1440 x 900. I get that but why is the text so small on the 2015 version where I have to get it to scale to what I'm used to with my old 2012 MBP non-retina? Also, the bar at the top with the :apple:, your apps, wiki, battery % left, etc. is so tiny on the 2015 as well. If I were to get the 2014 version with Mavericks would the text be normal size and the top bar with the :apple: be comparable to my 2012 MBP non-retina or would it all be the same as my 2015 version of MBA?

No, the 2012 13" MBP is 1280x800, that's why there's a difference.

I would suggest continuing to use the laptop for 1-2 weeks and giving your eyes some time to adjust.

I bought a new monitor for my desktop earlier this year and the pixels were smaller and it was driving me crazy for about a week but now it's fine.
