Hey all,

If this has been asked before, I apologise for the repeat in posts (but I couldn’t find anything either so...).

As I was updating to the glorious well-renowned MacOS Catalina, my 2015 11” MBA decided to call it quits and crashed during installation. This rendered my device to be unable to recognise ANY boot device, including install usbs. I tried doing everything I could to recognise any devices that I plugged in but it simply wouldn’t work.

Just looking to find out if anyone else experienced a similar issue and what possible solutions there may be? I’m currently thinking of biting the bullet and replace the Logic Board and pray to the Gods of Rosales fruits that it works

Did you try booting into recovery (cmd+r) or internet recovery (cmd+opt+r)?

Thanks for the reply and yes I did. That’s how I was able to see that none of the boot devices I was connecting (including the SSD) were not being detected at all.

Running disk utility from both methods didn't show the internal drive?

Was the MacBook ever exposed to liquids or dropped?

Yes that’s correct. Also both methods only booted into internet recovery as well.

The laptop did have previous damage from coffee being spilled on it and it required a new battery and fan replacement which was done through a authorised repair shop. Other than that no other damages were done to it. This was around two years ago and haven’t had any issues afterwards until now.

Since external drives are not recognised, it sounds like it could be a logic board issue.

It's booting into Internet recovery because the MacBook can't find the recovery partition.

Could you post a screenshot of the disk utility screen?
