I bought a used MBA 13.3 with 4GB RAM i5 128GB (2015 model thinking early) for $260. The original price they wanted was $400. It’s working really well so far but wanted to know what others think.

Sounds like a bargain if it's in good condition. Was it erased and opened to the setup wizard? If so all good although 128Gb is a bit low and often the reason people ditched them.

I think I paid about $600 for a 2014 model with similar specs for my parents. For web browsing, email and light word processing it's been a fantastic computer. You could try looking on eBay or maybe Swappa to see what they're going for there and then be the judge. Seems like a pretty decent buy to me depending on the condition.

I have the same model, and even in mint condition it is only worth $230 to trade in with Apple (I'm shopping for a new laptop). Given mine would be worth more on the open market than that (I'm guessing $300-$350), I'd say you got a good deal, for sure...

If it's not your primary device and you take into account that the storage is small you can plan for that by not storing media like photos, movies, music etc on it. If you can afford the storage on iCloud you might want to store some stuff there but I prefer an external drive.
If it's your primary device then you will need an external HD for backup anyway so if you setup the backup not to erase trashed files it will serve as a sort of archive as well.

Actually storage won’t be an issue for me. I don’t do photos or videos. It’s mainly going to be used for notes, health tracking, some light .NET Core development, and financial tracking. So nothing extreme. I wasn’t sure about the 4GB at first but VS and VS Code work fine - even if Angular is a RAM hog.

Oh wow, I cannot believe I flubbed on the specs. It is an early 2015 but its the 11.6" version not 13.3". Still amazing little device. Fast, efficient, battery lasts about 8-10 hours (for being 4-5 years old that's amazing in my books).

The little 11” Airs are fantastic laptops. I used an 11” 2011 (i5/2GB/128GB) as my main classroom laptop for years, and I have an 11” 2015 (i5/8GB/256GB) for home. Enjoy it mate!

Did you check to see if it has a firmware password? It's one of the first things I do when looking at a used Mac.

Great price for a little workhorse too!
Yes I did. Oddly I remember checking for those little things. I made sure it booted up didn't have any lines in the screen, wifi works, bluetooth works, wasn't iCloud locked, etc. This is useful info for those who may want to purchase a used Mac product (iPad, iMac, iPhone, MacBook Pro, etc.) and ensure they don't get ripped off.
