2015 Imac 27" Fusion slow to boot

Hi all
I am looking for advice from someone who may have done what i am thinking of.

My 2015 iMac 27" with the 1tb fusion drive seems super slow to boot, apps load slowly sometimes too. I am running the latest version of Big Sur.

Would installing the system onto a thunderbolt SSD speed things up quite a bit? If its just a few percentage points ill skip it. Has anyone done this? Did you notice a big speed increase?

I also have it maxed out on RAM at 32gb.

I'd try a USB3 SSD (instead of thunderbolt).

For a 2015, a standard SATA SSD would do everything you needed (they're very affordable).
Then, put it into an enclosure like this:

Would the USB 3 be as fast as a thunderbolt? Thats the only reason I was thinking TB would help more because of its faster speed.

Thunderbolt would be no faster, and might actually be SLOWER...

Ohhhh I didnt know that. I was jsut looking at the raw speeds when i typed TB vs usb 3 in google lol
