I am looking for thoughts/opinions...

I am looking at a used 2015 MacBook Pro 13; i5 8GB ram , 256 SSD

Seller has if I remember correctly about 330 cycles on the battery and is physically in top shape.

He will accept 900 CDN ( about 650 US).

My usages are not heavy accept personal photo/video editing and other basic things.
The 8 GB ram and SSD will suffice as long as I can try to get 3/4 years more out of it. I have been pricing out 2018 various models ( that will give me more longevity, but also almost triple the cost)

I would like to hear thoughts before I make a decision.

thank you

I have the same one and I love it. I do some light LightRoom on it, and some GarageBand, and it's a great laptop.

For CAD$900 that seems like a lot of cycles on the battery. IIRC that's a CAD$250 replacement, so I'd consider asking the seller to meet you half way on that. Or hey, maybe the seller will pay all of it.

256GB isn't a lot of storage space. I use a NAS and I keep my documents on my Macbook while working with them, then move then to the NAS afterwards. I can still access them off the NAS too of course, it's just slower. This Macbook has 1.3Gb/s wifi, so this set up works really well in my experience. But it means I have many terabytes of data easily accessible without messing around with portable storage or throwing crazy amounts of money at Apple.

8GB hasn't been an issue, but I'm also thinking that if 10.14 isn't the "best and last" OS worth using on this Macbook, then 10.15 might be.

I've been giving some thought as to what to do in the future and since this one is working so well I'm thinking I'll replace this battery later this year and should get another 2 or 3 years out of it. I'm sure I could get 4 years out of it if I wanted to.
