Found a mid-2015 macbook pro 15.4" for $1100.

One owner. Older woman. Babied it. The laptop and box are in pristine condition. She just replaced the battery.
i7, 16GB, 512GB

Am I a fool for considering this?

Compare prices on Swappa to see if it’s in the same range.

Having just gotten a mid-2015 myself (i7/16GB/256GB) that is also in A+ condition (no signs of wear at all) and battery health is very good, I think $1100 is a bit high. I got mine for about $400 which I know is way below market, but I think $1100 is well above.

The only thing you can upgrade (if you so choose) is the SSD (via a cheap adapter on Amazon) and you can use almost any NVMe SSD. I put a 2TB in mine.

Performance is great for what I do. It's very fast. But if I were doing video of any sort, I'd opt for a new model with newer CPU that blasts through video tasks.

Thanks guys. Really appreciate the info.

I think that sounds high. I have a laptop like that and I have been watching prices on E-Bay as I wait to decide whether to wait for ARM or upgrade now and I have been thinking that I would be lucky to get in the $700-$900 range.

I have one I’d sell you for 900 just had Apple replace the battery and keyboard etc

I’ve got a 2015 15.4 with 1 TB, 16 GB. I took it in to get the screen replaced because of the recall on the anti glare coating coming off and they replaced the top case (keyboard and trackpad) and battery as well last year. The battery has just under 130 cycles currently. The only thing that doesn’t look brand new is a few dings and scratches on the bottom case.

I just ordered a new spec’d out 16 inch. It’s supposed to get here next week.

Message me if you live in the US and want to buy the 15.4. I’d let it go for about what you are paying for the one from the old lady.

Edit: Forgot to mention, I’ve got an EBay seller profile with 100% positives as well. :)

dGPU? 2.5 or 2.8 i7? Top end ones had one. If not, take cash off the price. I paid less than 1k for mine, back in December.
