2015 macpro coming with 1.o t hd__partition?

I might be old school but I felt I wanted to take this new (to me 2015 mpr) and set up the 1.0 t hd say 256 and the balance for data, people are saying not to do that leave it as a 1.0 t hd
I use super duper for backups, I am coming from a PC background where you kept the OS separate then if it went bad you would just restore that bit
Am I right in doing 2 partitions oe should I leave what apple sets up alone

unless you have an application or workflow specific need for a second volume, there is no reason to do this. you are fine with just one partition.

I don't think it hurts to partition. It would be easier for you to do a clean install of OS also after an extended period of use, why not go for it? Especially makes sense in the case of a 1tb HD.
