Curretly own a base model 2015 rMB. Is there a large performance jump with the 2017 models?

And debating whether its worth getting the i5 or the m3. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Seems like the 2017 models have a significant performance jump over even the 2016 models. Now just debating between m3 or i5.

There is no large performance jump between 2015, 2016, 2017 unless you want 16GB HEVC or more storage, there is no point for upgrade the MacBook.
Unless 10nm CPU introduced, the real performance is highly affected by TDP and heat, not benchmark burst speed.

There is around a 45% OpenGL performance improvement going from the 2015 to 2017 which is not insignificant
