2016 15" External Monitor Not Working

My fully spec'd out MBP is not connecting to my external samsung monitor via an hdmi to USB-C apple adapter. I've run the hoops of updates, reboots, trying all ports. Nothing is working. Anyone else have an issue with an external monitor that fixed it?
