Hi!

I got my 2016 15" base model a couple of days ago and I'm loving it so far.
I just wanted to see if the sustained CPU speeds are where they should be for this model.

Launching Cinebench cpu test or something like handbrake makes it boost to 3.2 GHz for a second or two before it throttles down slowly and settles at 2.8-2.9 GHz. All this while at 99c and at 4-5k fan speed. I know that is still above base clock, but I just want to know if I got a well working sample now that I spent so much money on it.

Does this sound normal to you guys? Would love for other people with the 15" to chime in.

I'm sure it's normal. I have the 2.7/455/512 model, but it seems ok.

Please note that monituring CPU/GPU temperatures, fan rpm and clock speeds can have a detrimental effect on productivity and, ultimately, sanity.

Trust me, I'm speaking from personal experience.

Oh I know. It's easy to get sucked into monitoring everything instead of enjoying the product.
What I wanted was to check once that everything was OK when I got it and then forget about it.
