2016 15in TB MBP Outer bezel edges not properly sealed

Anyone else been noticing the edges around the bezel for the new mbp's are not properly sealed? I switched out two units and both seem to have the leaks in the same spots which makes me think it's a manufacturing issue. Might just keep this one if every model seems to exhibit the same symptoms.

It's not noticeable under most conditions but if you're watching a movie with a dark scene it's pretty apparent. I tried to capture it with the image below, but it was difficult because of the lack of light.

I notice slight pinkish/backlight bleed on the corners of the display. Barely so that I don't think I'd even call it backlight bleed. I'm assuming that's what you're getting at?

Edit - Nevermind, looks like you're talking about light leakage from the bezel? If so, I don't see that on my 15" MBP w/ TB

Yea sorry if I wasn't clear, I mean the light leaking through the outer edge of the bezel. Not the more typical issue of uneven lighting around the inner edges.

The pink/yellow hue was introduced by the camera struggling in the low light I think. The screen looks fine in person otherwise.

Yeah I'm not seeing that on mine I'm afraid. :/ 15"/1TB/2.9/460 here.

Ah alright, thanks for checking, glad yours doesn't have it. I have the exact same model. To be fair it's pretty faint, to get that photo I had to view a black image in full screen mode at max brightness.
 
13 inch nontouch bar base model. Can confirm that this exists.

To test this you need to be in a pitch black room and your screen needs to be showing an all black image at full brightness. You can use this video:

It should like light leeking where the rubber is on the outside of the bezels.

Yea exactly, that's what I've been noticing as well :(
 
After a close inspection and running that video at full brightness (in a dark room) I still don't see it here. I have OCD when it comes to that kind of stuff so maybe it was a QC issue.
 
Almost all LCD panels have some light bleed of some description, you in a massive minority if there isn't any, this applies to all LCD panels. This will disappear when oled screens become mainstream but until then it's a quirk of how the tech works...

As long as it's minor then ignore it 99% of the time you'll never notice it in normal use. If it's particularly bad then exchange you have a 14 day return period use it.

Thanks for the detailed info. Totally makes sense. I just found it strange I couldn't recreate this particular leak with my 2012 rmbp and 2014 mac book air. Which leads me to think it's a QC issue like someone mentioned above.

sry but that is bs. ipad pros do not have light leaks. cmbps did not have lightleaks. most rmbps did not have lightleaks. that is common with other brands but not with apple.

it is bad qc, as always. id exchange it.

Yea that's a good point too. I haven't seen it with other devices.
 
same here. This is unacceptable at any price. besides the one guy on here, Anyone have any luck with an exchange not having this issue? Mine is a 13".

Thanks for the link. Just viewed this video in full screen in a pitch black room at all levels of brightness, and have not found any light leaks on my 13" 2016 MacBook Pro. Looks like I got lucky.
 
I also have this on the left and right side of my bezel. However it's very little, almost so little that it honestly doesn't bother me enough.
 
Yeah I have it too around the left edge. It isn't noticeable unless you deliberately go looking for it though. Room has to be pitch black, brightness has to be all the way up, and screen must be displaying a fully black image.

I've owned many, many devices of many brands, and I've never seen bleed on an OUTER edge bezel.
 
This is on mine as well - I only noticed when the sun was directly on it. Unless it starts to peel or something, I dont mind it. Least of my current MBP 15 worries...
