What’s happening,

I'm getting into video editing youtube videos. i will mainly use 1080p but might start 4K as well. I came across a 2016 MacBook Pro 15 inch for $1100. No warranty but the machine was refurbished by Apple prior to the warranty being expired. They replaced the battery, keyboard, and screen. I believe it’s the base model with 256gb...16gb ram..amd Radeon pro 450 with 2gb of GDDR5 memory.

Since I’m a rookie starting out, should I give this a look or opt for a 13 inch 2019? Any valuable feedback would be appreciated.

From the Apple Refurb Store perspective for a 2019 13" MBP, you get a one year warranty, an Applecare purchase option, faster chips, and confidence in its fresh from the refurb process condition. For the 2016, is it an i5 or i7 chip? If it was my choice and I didn't want to get the 2020 13" MBP to save money, I would invest in an external display too. Be sure you're ok with the butterfly keyboard if you're buying in those years.

Agree with the post above. If you're looking at a 2016 model, go for the 2015. 2016 is a first gen failure IMO. 2020 13 inch would be a better option, 2019 16 inch is the best option but much pricier.

Thanks. I’m a rookie in video editing. I’ll be using Final Cut Pro. Yea, the keyboard is definitely in the back of my mind.
