I have two external Iomega USB/FW400/800 drives that I've used over the last couple years. I recently acquired a 2016 MBP and no matter what I try with adapters, they are not showing up on the desktop.

Other USB->USB-C items work fine.

Is this a flaw?

Are these drives 3.5" or 2.5" ?
If 3.5", are you using the external power blocks?
"Bus power" alone isn't enough to spin up and mount a 3.5" drive.

Are the enclosures "openable"?
If they are, your last resort might be to pry open the enclosures, then use the drives inside with a USB3/SATA docking station.

Do the drives still work with other Macs?

I believe it was just a power issue. I tried a new power supply and it showed right up.

Weird that it'd spin up but not mount!

Thanks!

It is worth noting that a disk of that age may also be in the early signs of physical failure. I would be sure to back all of that data up to another drive, if it is not already.
