I'm definitely getting the 13 non touch bar with 16GB ram, and 512 flash storage.

That said, I'm torn between the standard 2.0 I5 or the 2.4 I7 for about $200 more. My thoughts are the 2.4 upgrade will help future proof somewhat.

However, if I'm understanding some of the posts here, some are indicating threre is minimal benefit to be gained; im not sure if some are just looking to keep cost down?

So, I'm looking for some real insight here

Thank you

Honestly if you can afford the extra $200, then just stretch a little more and get a touchbar model. You'll get a faster CPU AND GPU, along with a higher TDP (meaning the system can run faster for longer when under heavy CPU/GPU load), and two extra ports.

Really, if you're already splurging for a 512GB SSD and 16GB of RAM I'd really suggest the touchbar model as saving money doesn't seem to be your primary concern.
