I'm wondering if anyone knows if there is any difference in the body of the 2016 MBP compared to the 2015 rMBP. I had the 2015 model for about a year and there is prominent pitting on the edge where your palm rests on the right side. I plan to make the 2016 MBP last much longer than a year so I'm just wondering if I have to take precautions now or if there could be any improvement in prevention of this in the newer space grey model.

If you have acidic skin (like some folks do) it will cause pitting on aluminum. Probably will cause the same thing to happen on a new 2016 MBP. If that's the case, you can employ a protective cover while using your new MBP. My daughter has that type of skin and will wear the tops off the keys on a keyboard after a while.
