Hey guys, posting this for my son. He has a 2016 MBP that recently went black. After troubleshooting with him over the phone, I asked him to plug it into an HDMI screen and he did and the machine was running and he could see the OS. This led me to believe the display was gone. Then the next day it worked. It's been doing this a bit he says, but usually a flicker, not the black seemingly no signal screen.

Questions:

- sound like the display is on it's way out?
- if not, could it be a bad ribbon connection or something?
- I assume Apple will charge more money to fix than it's worth? Which would be too bad for a 3 year old machine.
- Anymore troubleshooting I can do or should do?

Thanks.
