Hi!

I gave it a fair try, but I decided to return my touchbar MBP for a non-touchbar model. I might post my grievances in a later post. I had high hopes for the touchbar, but it turned out to be a huge disappointment. I'd rather have the function keys and use the extra money for a larger SSD.

So I got my non-touchbar (MBPwoTB) model in the mail, and the first thing I did was put it in target disk mode and connect to my touchbar model (MBPwTB) to restore my partition. I've used this process several times using thuderbolt without any issue. The only difference this time was that I connected via USBC, which of course is really just thunderbolt 3, so I was expecting it to just work.

I've tried connecting to all the combinations of USB ports. I've tried hooking it up the opposite way (MBPwTB in TDM). No matter what I do, I simply can't get either device to mount when I put it in TDM. I can't get the migration assistant to work either. The USB ports work on both devices, so I ended up migrating my files using a USB drive (which I had to go out and buy a dongle for :\ ).

I'm sure other people will be returning their touchbar models. Curious if anyone else has experienced this or knows of a workaround? Hoping Apple fixes this soon with an EFI update...
