My 2016 is eligible for the battery replacement program through Apple and I think there is one more but I can’t remember, but does anyone else’s get really hot where the hinge is when you’re watching YT videos? I touched mine last night and it was really hot. Eventually thinking about selling it and getting the 2019 model, but as of right now, I wonder if sending it in for the battery replacement will help?

EDIT: Ugh realized I accidentally posted this in the MB Air forum. Can a kind soul move it for me? Thanks!

Do you run an external monitor?

I have a 2018 15" MBP and it gets somewhat warm. When I watch 8k vids on YT my fan kicks in as well.

Watching youtube videos will cause most laptops to get hot, push the fan and it will vent out through the hinge area leading to it getting hot, that is around the spot where the CPU is. Not sure why a battery replacement will solve anything.

Sounds fairly normal to me.

That's good to know. I think I've gotten so used to watching them on my iPad that I don't realize that it's a normal symptom for computers.
