Hey Friends,

Just picked up a 2017 MacBook Pro with just about every upgrade (expect I opted for the 1tb in 2tb) Anyway, I saw the quoted specs of 3000MBps read on the drive and I'm only getting around 2300. Anyone else experiencing this?

I assume this is a system with High Sierra? If so, is encryption enabled?

Yeah its high Sierra with encryption enabled. Is the encryption the issue?

Some users are finding synthetic benchmarks with APFS + encryption show a slower speed than HFS + encryption (that said, this does not mean anything as far as real-world performance goes considering how poor of an approximation most synthetic benchmarks are to real-world usage.)

This is completely normal. You won't see 3000MBps in Black Magic.
