Hello everyonee,

I have a problem with my prett high specced 15 inch 2017 Macbook Pro. Since two days, I rrealised that I have a screen burn in issue, on the bottom wherre there is the dock. At first I didn't really understand that it was a burn in, thought that it was some kind of bug and thought that it would be fixed once i reestart the computer. But no, unfortunately it didn't fix it. Thankfully, it doesn't rrender my computer unuseable for now. I say for now because i don't know if it will become worse or not. And yes, i don't have Apple care. Is this a known issue? I never thought that i would have a burn in problem with an IPS screen.

This is not my first mac, previously I owned the transparent G4 iMac DV 400 Mhz (my first computer, bondy blue color, loved it) , 2 Mac Pros (the one that had the G5 design, but i had the one with intel xeon 2 x 2.2 ghz and 1 x 2.6 ghz versions) and 2012 maxed up 15 inch Macbook pro which i replaced with this computerr. And i have several ipads..etc but I have to objectively say (I am not an hateer or fanboy) , unfortunately this has been the worst mac that I have ever owned. I love the design and all, but I am already facing this stupid problem with the keyboard (as you can see the repetitivee keypreesses from my keboard, or sometimes it doesnt press, like the "y" keey) but i was still living with the keboard problem. Tho now having this screen problem made me realy dissappointed and upset with thee quality of this device that i paid around 3500 euros.

I would appreciate any advices on what to do. And if i have to change the screen, is theree anyone who knows thee cost of such repair? I am adding a screenshot of the problem. You can see the problem on the bottom of the screen. It seems like my dock is burnt in to the screen... :(

Thank you in advance.

PS: I didn't correect the keyboard mistakes on purposee to show the level of that problem as well.

Get your keyboard replaced and see if it fixes the problem with the screen. I don't think that's normal burn-in, it looks like what happens when there's a partial failure in the graphics system, either a cable or processor.

Thank you very much for your reply. I didn't know the repair program for the keyboard of the Macbook Pro. At least that, I can have it fixed. Here where i live, there isn't any Apple Store, but I may try to bring it to the authorized reseller from where i bought. Apparently i have 4 years from the first retail date, so i'd say mid 2021 to have it fixed which is good as I don't know when will this Covid situation end.

Having said that, yesterday night, i left my macbook pro off for the whole night (normally i use it to put a move on, on full screen, and fall asleep like that) to let the the screen "relax" a bit. Because I've read that the image retention on LCD screens could be fixed like that. Thankfully this morning when I woke up and launched my Macbook Pro, the "image retention" had went away and the screen was flawless again. Then I turned it off again to let it "relax" a bit more and now I am using my other computer. So this means I suppose:

- It was an indeed image retention problem and have been fixed with the normal ways.
- Or there is a serious graphic processor/screen problem which is waiting to explode (metaphoricaly) in the near future. May be a loose cable?..

I hope that it is the first one. As I wanted to change my first Gen iPad Pro with a new iPad Pro and I don't want to spend that money on fixing what I already have. :-/

Thank you.
