2017 i7 3.1gHZ or 2018 i7 2.2gHZ 6 core?

I need a computer to take on the road and transcode (DaVinci and Media Encoder) and do some work in Premiere. so for similar price i can either get top of the line 2017 i7 3.1GHZ or go with a lower class 2018 model but 2.2GHZ 6 core system? I want the 4GB video card and 16GB RAM for sure.

is it worth going for 2018 or maxed out 2017? any recommendations?

Definitely 6 core. I loved mine... that is until the 8 core came out. Two additional cores for regression analyses = happiness.
