The 2017 iMac with a 3.5 i5, 24 GB of RAM, and a 250 GB SSD. the ssd is in good health.
The thing is i use a external thunderbolt drive.
The problem is a lot of the time the noise ramps , funny enough it has been on for over 2 hours and is quite as a mouse :rolleyes:It has not been as quite as that for ages;My dilemma is ,do i get someone to sort it out not the Apple store. but somewhere i used before.Or do i sell it as is ?And what would i say when selling it?
Do i say something like* it is working but there is a problem with noise*
What sort of price would it be just to look at it ?I would think it might be something like £200 to get it done .What sort of price should i ask bearing in mind the noise problem?Of course if someone who new about Macs it might be a straight forward problem.
If i had to pay £200 it would be better if i put it to one of those amazing Mac minis .And as it is eight years old now. There is no other problem but the noise problem.

Noise from the iMac's fans? Noise coming from the speakers? Noise from a undetermined source? How can a repair be estimated without knowing?

Do you need to make a recording of the noise (with you phone?) and upload it here?

I don,t have a iPhone Smart Phone.I think it needs a good clean inside the Mac.The sounds from the speakers are fine.Sometimes like now i can,t here any noise at all.

Second-hand iMacs 2017 are sold for about 400$ where I live.
Just for your reference.
You can check the online market in your neighborhood for an idea about your local offerings.
Thanks if i say that there is a noise problem i will have to reduce the price.
I have just seen this i have not done any of the stuff in it
The noise from your Mac could be related to the fan, which is a common cause of such issues. The fan might start making a whirring noise after some time, especially if the room temperature is higher.2 If the noise varies, it could be due to the fan's activity, which is often triggered by the computer's processing needs. If your Mac is using a lot of processing power, the fan may run harder than usual.4 To address this, you can check the Activity Monitor to see which program is using the most processing power and consider closing or removing it.
$400 is about £294 if that is the case it might better to sell it as id.I should think someone just looking at it would be something like £60 before what ever they have to do.For someone who, knows about getting in to Macs it could be a easy fix.But for someone like myself it is a to daunting to open it up. This guy can take them apart in his sleep.
