Looking to upgrade the SSD on my daughters 2017 MBA to a 500gb-1TB ssd. I see a lot of threads on here about the 2013-2015 upgrade but want to make sure it will work for her 2017 running Monterey. Its currently the factory 128gb ssd. I know I need the short adaptor to make the drive fit but is there anything else I need? I have read I should not get anything past a GEN3 ssd as GEN4 will not work in a MBA, is that true? I'm looking at this Crucial P2 500GB 3D NAND NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD Up to 2400MB/s - and also this Western Digital 500GB WD Blue SN550 NVMe Internal SSD - Gen3 x4 PCIe 8Gb/s, M.2 2280, 3D NAND, Up to 2,400 MB/s drives on amazon as they are both in the low $40 price range. Will these work or is there a better option? Thanks in advance

A Fledging feather 265 GB is running my macbook air 2010 with Mojave
the cost was under 75$ But took 3 extra week delivery last year.
the drive runs well and is speedy with no adapter, just a straight easy plug in.

then there os OWC macsales that has the exact drive for the MacBook air.
i have the Western Digital 500GB blue in my Dell XPS with runs great as well.
as far as which one is your preference since they should all fit in the macbook air.
