Hi

I have noticed that there is cracking and peeling at bottom of the screen of my MacBook Pro. It was purchased in February 2017 so I have had it for just over 2 years. This is not the first issue I have had with this machine - the backlighting vanished after about a month, then further repairs were needed from something that happened to it while being repaired. Has this cracking/peeling happened to anybody else? Photos of the affected area are attached. I do expect better from a machine I paid nearly $3k for.

Was the lid more stiff to move after the backlight was repaired? it looks like that those cracks are fatigue failures due to repeatedly high bending stress near the hinges

Not that I noticed. Have been using it mostly without incident since (I think has had one other repair but I can't remember the details at the moment). I first noticed a line there a few weeks ago and it looked just like plastic peeling, and just noticed tonight that it is the actual paint peeling. This was one of the first MacBook Pros with the Touch Bar and I can't help feeling that they were rushed out with less regard to quality.

I'd definitely take that to an Apple Store and see about getting it replaced. If there are no signs of physical damage elsewhere you have a great case for getting it either repaired or getting a replacement model.
