2017 MacBook Pro daisy connected to CalDigit Thunderbolt 3 dock and UltraFine charging slow.

Hi everyone, hope all is well and thanks for taking the time to read this.

Have a MacBook Pro 15" from 2017 connected into my CalDigit Thunderbolt dock which in turn is connected to my UltraFine 5K. The battery can't hold a charge.

So what am I doing wrong?

Some notes:
Using the LG UltraFine thunderbolt cable to connect to the CalDigit dock. Then using the CalDigit cable to connect into the UltraFine 5K monitor.

Am I missing a firmware update or something?

So I dunno what I did, but a lot of unplugging and power cycling, things seemed to be working.

Why did plugging a monitor in become so complicated?
