Has anyone run into any issues with their Macbook after the BigSur update that came earlier this week? My 2017 MacBook Pro restarted midway through the download process and kept restarting "due to an error". It restarts within 30 seconds of getting to the desktop. Here's what I've already tried:
  1. Loading the Macbook in safe mode. - restarted again
  2. Running a repair from disk utility - restarted midway
  3. Reinstalling from disk utility - went halfway through and restarted.
Since the reinstalling went halfway through, the system doesn't even load till the desktop and just keeps restarting. I do not have an external startup disk. What are my options? Any help is much appreciated!

Hi M,

Feel for you buddy!

We are not getting much advice or support on this forum, for Big Sur updates at the moment. That’s a shame as there must be Mac people out there on this community that can help, advise, or even just offer support.

My issue is a lot less minor, at the least the MBA still runs. I’m just apprehensive as hell about hitting install, seeing as I got an error on downloading the large 5.7Gb update, and I’m reading all these threads with others with update issues.

If I have time tonight, I’m calling apple care and get their advice about my issue/concern.
For yourself, suggest you try calling them as well and ask to speak to a senior if the 1st person is a floundering newbie :)

Hope that helps.
Martin
