2017 MacBook Pro video lag

Just bought the recently updated 2017 15" MacBook Pro, the lowest configuration. Tried some HD (1080p or 1440p) videos on youtube. The computer is not doing any other things, but every now and then it lags a little bit, like freeze for .5 second or so. Is it normal? Should I expect it to be absolutely smooth?

It's possible it's something with your network connection. Try downloading a video and playing it off the SSD to see if it still happens.

I would also go into preferences and turn of GPU switching, to rule that out (force it to use the discrete GPU at all times). Maybe it's switching back and forth and it glitches each time?

Could it be it is indexing the drive for spotlight? check if anything else is going on in the background.
