I went through a few warranty repairs on a late '16 base MBP, non touch bar. Two new keyboards and a new logic board. They were the first issues I've encountered owning MacBook Pros over the last decade.
Eventually a manager elected to replace my device with a '17 MBP 256gb, non touch bar. I could have paid $200 more for a touch bar or $800 more for a 15". I kept the standard model. I was overall happy with the level of response offered by the Genius Bar, but I was displeased at how long it took to get help (even with an appointment)
Anyway, everything seems much better out of the box. The keyboard feels sturdier and more responsive. The USB-C port is a stronger fit, and the screen hinge has more resistance. My plastic case easily weighed down the hinges on my '16....I had been considering eBay and a new Chromebook, but first impressions are that they made some good & important changes going from the '16 to the '17. I do not notice any increase in performance, though. Runs about the same in terms of load times.
