Hey guys, I have a new 2017 Macbook Pro with High Sierra and I want to know if it is better to just do Migration Assistant from Time Machine (my 2013 MBP Sierra)) or Manual Paste from External Backup?

Which is more "clean install" or does it make zero difference?

Also, how can I make sure my texts come with a manual install.

Thank you!

No sure if this helps, I used the Migration Assistant to migrate from El Capitan to High Sierra. El Capitan was migrated to from Mountain Lion. This was on a 2011 iMac. If you just do a manual paste you will still have to install/setup any programs you use plus not sure but you may have permissions problems.

After I migrated I found a few old items came over as well, not a big issue for me. I had thought about setting up from scratch but it would be a lot of effort to do this and get it set up the way I want.

As far as I can see everything transferred ok and worked fine.
