Hello,

I have a 2017 MBP, it's nearly two years old, and I don't have AppleCare. I did get the keyboard serviced about a month and a half ago before the closures. I am on MacOS Catalina 10.15.4.

Today, I had the MacBook Pro and it was asleep, and I touched the keyboard with my hand while plugging it into power. I use Apple's official power brick that came with the computer, and replaced the USB-C Cable with a new official Apple cable about one month ago. The keyboard lit up, but before the screen turned on, I finished plugging in the USB-C power cable. The keyboard immediately went dark, and repeated attempts to get the laptop to boot or show any signs of life have failed. I've tried holding down the power button repeatedly, trying with the cable plugged in and not plugged in, and even an SMC reset, but the laptop refuses to show any signs of activity.

Because it was waking from sleep, I'm almost wondering if I had a kernel panic from the 10.15.4+SupplementalUpdate issues, and the laptop isn't resetting. (I don't know if I have the Supplemental update installed or not. I previously prevented it from installing, but perhaps it installed overnight?)

Any ideas on how to fix it myself would be tremendously helpful.

EDIT: My model has Function Keys, no Touchbar, and no T1/T2 chip.

I'm wondering if you had a failed firmware update?

Or, could it be an "after effect" from the keyboard replacement, such as a loose display cable or something else inside?

A bad time to have something go wrong, as all the Apple Stores are closed.
Only option might be to "mail it in" for diagnostics and repair...

According to https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208862 , my model is a Pro 2017, thus it does not have T2. My model does not have touch bar, thus it does not have T1 AFAIK. I don't think it is an "after effect," because it died at the exact moment I plugged my power in, which doesn't look good. The reason I'm unsure though is that the laptop was waking from sleep at the same moment, and 10.15.4 has well documented sleep wake problems.

Try at ifixit too if you haven't already. You can still call Apple to see if they can diagnose it over the phone.
