This is more of a venting thread, but here goes.

1.5 year old 2017 nTB which I never take outside and rarely use. Volume ( - ) key got stuck (unbelievable on a $1299 laptop). Mind you, I was a naysayer of this keyboard issue... until it happened to me.

Spent the entire morning at the Apple store so they could decide it could be fixed under the keyboard program.

One entire week without my computer. Literally just got back from the store, turned my laptop on aaaaaannddd... the right speaker's blown. Like a rusty '97 Honda Civic's paper speakers would sound if you tried to blast music from them now.

Now I'll have to drive all the goddamn way to the ****ing Apple Store, lose another morning, and go another week without my laptop.

I just can't believe it. Most importantly how can they not check the quality of their repairs? When I picked my Mac up from the store the lady just made me sign a bunch of papers and sent me on my way as if they had something to hide.

I don't think I want to have a MacBook any longer. My work Dell has taken all sorts of abuse and is still going strong.

Spend some time at the Dell forums and you'll see plenty of venting there too. There are a lot of things that can go wrong with a keyboard replacement, probably not efficient to check for all of them. Bummer, though.

That bites, sorry to see you have so much issues :(

That's the thing with butterfly keyboards they continue to fail and that's perhaps one reason why apple abandoned the flawed design in the 16" MBPs - I know that doesn't help you.

Dells are solid machines, I've had good luck with them but also Lenovo, talk about night and day with keyboard experiences you can literally pour a jug of water on the thinkpad and it won't bat an eyelash.

Hopefully you won't be without your MBP too long

Good news! I took it back there on my lunch break on Tuesday. I said I had had a problem with the repair and they took care of me right away, I didn’t have to stand in line or make an appointment.

They said they would get me another top case and this time they would also replace the display (which had a few dents) as an apology. They told me it could take 7-20 days, I could leave it there or take it home and wait for the parts to arrive, I chose to leave it there.

Unfortunately due to the coronavirus situation, Apple stores are closing down worldwide until the 27th. They expedited all repairs and called me this afternoon to pick up my laptop ASAP, so I was taken care of and I have essentially a new laptop. Hope it does not fail again. All in all a good experience, they did all they could to make things right!
