So B&H has a deal going on until Nov 10th where you can get for $400 off a mid-2017 13” Touchbar MacBook Pro 256gb SSD, 8gb RAM for $1399 New. Compared to the new MacBook Air 256gb SSD, 8gb RAM also at $1399, which would you get?
My Dad has a 2013 MacBook Air he will be upgrading from so both will be a big improvement. The primary reason I am leaning to recommend the TB MBP is that it has a brighter and more colorful screen. My only concern with the 2017 MBP is the older design of the keyboard. The 1/4lb weight difference is not a big deal which is one advantage of the Air.
