My 2018 Macbook Pro 13 touch bar got stolen and the house insurance has given me a 1600 Argos (UK pounds) voucher to replace it.

Argos only sell the 13 MB Pro 2018 256GB which was the same model as I had. The only 2019 model they do is the 13" with 512GB for 1999 pounds. I am tempted to make up the difference to get the 2019 512GB. Is it worth the extra money for a 2019 machine? I have heard that the keyboard is better but what else has changed?

I have still lost out as the home insurance will not replace the Apple Care I originally got with the machine.

You should be able to get whatever is left of AppleCare reimbursed at least. Call AppleCare. The 2019 has a supposedly little bit more reliable keyboard, but it is hard to say now how much more reliable it is over the 2018.

Oh, I was under the impression the AppleCare could not be transferred. I will certainly make the call then.

I might just wait out then until Argos start selling the 256GB 2019 model then I at least have the ability to wait as I can use my (very old) iMac in the meantime

It can't be transferred, but you can get a prorated refund for the remainder of the three years since your computer is stolen. I sold mine and called and got a refund for about half of it.

I find the 2019 keyboard nicer to type on. The 2018 ones I tried (I was looking at buying a second hand one) were a bit mushy and loose. The 2019 is much "tighter". Both should be covered under the keyboard replacement.
