Hi guys, I just picked up my 2018 15" this evening and the gap between the lid and the body is slightly larger on the right side (all the way from the hinge through the full side of the machine) than the left side. This is bothering me way more than it should, but the machine was $4,000...Is this within normal spec? Is it worth taking back to the Apple store to see if they can fix it (maybe it just needs to be aligned)?

Thanks!

Nah, forget fixing - just get a replacement... that's too much money for a machine that's not quite right

What a bummer. I guess I'll call in the morning and hope they still have some in stock. Thanks for the replies all, good to know I am not being ridiculous.

Every MBP has this to some degree. Hold it up to a light source so that it shines through the lid ‘seal’ and look closely down the front and side edges. I guarantee you’ll see the light shining through at various points.

I had this on my 2015, I let them fix and align it in store, and it was perfect. They gave me the option to replace at the time, but it was custom config, and I didn’t want to wait. They aligned it perfectly and all was good.

I wanted to update in case anyone else has the same issue. I ordered the exact same config for in-store pickup today (can't believe they had two of this machine in stock). I stopped by this morning and returned the old one and picked up the new. No issue on the new device, definitely glad I replaced it.
