To anyone who has owned both a 2017 and a 2018 13-inch Macbook Pro: which of the two keyboards felt most comfortable to type on for you? I'm not worried so much about the quieter sound or the increased reliability due to the protective membranes. I'm more interested in the "typing comfort" factor.

Just as a benchmark: I think the current Magic Keyboard 2 that Apple produces is the most comfortable keyboard I've typed on in a long time.

It (the membrane) might provide something of a dampening effect, but I’d imagine it would be negligible? I’ve only tried out a 2018 in store but it didn’t seem materially different to when I have previously tried out friends’ 2016/17 machines...

It provides a very similar typing experience to the Late 2016 model that I had, albeit one that I prefer a little more. It's hard to describe the difference, but the 2018 feels a little more...springy? The only big difference between the two is the membrane. Functionally they are nearly identical in practice.
