Hello,

Considering all the recent reviews (and some issues mentioned), would you say that the base model 13 inch Macbook Pro with touch bar is a good choice as a main computer for the forseeable future ?

Thank you !

Well it's unequivocally better than last year's model. Depends on your needs.

Anyone that uses their computer for real work doesn't need the opinions of others when it comes to how much power they need. You should already know based on your current machine.

If however, you're just not sure of what to buy then it becomes a budget problem because you surely don't "need" it.

Thank you for taking the time to help me. I sure need a computer that can handle some work, the macbook not being powerfull enough for me and the macbook air being outdated, the macbook pro seems to be the right choice.

My question is more related to the throttling issues the processor on the new computer seems to have. Not sure if it affects the i7 processor and could affect the longetivity of the computer.

Well all processors throttle at some point. What's unusual about the i9 is that it apparently goes below base clock.

Honestly, the throttling debacle notwithstanding, only a few use cases warrant anything above base processor for this year. We're talking 6 cores @ 2.2Ghz
