Hello folks,

I purchased my new 2018 MBP upgrading from a 2014 MBP last week. I also purchased the LG Ultrafine 5K.

I am having disconnect issues like I changed resolution or put it to sleep and woke it up during the middle of work tasks. It seems like it is the same actions these monitors had when there was the shielding issue. My LG has a serial number from December 2017 that was just purchased last week that seems odd, but it for sure was made and has the label markings that the shielding issue should not be the problem. I just tried the new cable that is 0.8 m long that apple says is fully compatible with this monitor and still the issue persists.
any other ideas to try before I return this LG 5K. Oh and there is no inventory of these monitors in any store in the whole Northeast Region! I wonder what that is all about? Apple launching their own in September?

Pretty frustrated here! Any help or suggestion would be truly appreciated. I may have to just bring this back and wait for more choices to come available that have a camera, mic, and speakers with good resolution of maybe 4 K or just under. I don't see anything available yet with those features. I sure do miss my 27 Apple Cinema Display!

I can't comment on the issues you're experiencing with the LG 5K, but I've had mine for about a month (hooked up to the 2018 15" MBP), and while the screen is magnificent, the speakers are so bad that they're not even worth having. For what they charge for this thing, I would wait to see what Apple releases if I were you.

You can get a replacement and try that first.

My first generation UltraFine 5K works remarkably smoothly with MBP 15 2016.
As far as functionality, mine does too. I'm not having any of the connectivity/wake-from-sleep issues people were having. It's just the speaker quality that sucks.
